18.30 – 20.00
£12/£10 Arlington members/concessions

Assisted self-practice (Mysore style) is a traditional way of learning Ashtanga yoga. Self-practice rewards the practitioner by building confidence, resulting in a deeper knowledge of the Primary Series sequence, with individual assistance from the teacher.

While it can be challenging to work independently, you will experience the benefits of working at your own pace, discovering your own breath movement connection.

This workshop offers an opportunity to learn this valuable method. Laura will give you the background, help you to remember the sequence and prepare you for self practice.

BOOKING ESSENTIAL

This structured six week Foundations of Pranayama course is a wonderful way to be safely introduced into the practice of breath control, which will help you to get the most out of your asana practice and will enhance many aspects of your life.

During this six week course you’ll:

  • Learn simple preparations and purification techniques that will help to boost the benefits of pranayama;
  • Learn about the breath: to notice it, to follow it and to enhance it;
  • Be safely introduced to key breath control techniques that will help you calm down, slow down your metabolism and nourish you;
  • Deepen your breath, allowing you to become more aware and mindful, calm and focused;
  • Practice equal breath, bandhas and dristi, which will make you go deeper in your asana practice;
  • Take a closer look at how the breath can be applied in real life situations;
  • Learn more about the other physical practice of the Ashtanga system and experience its magic for yourself!

The course is perfect if you have an asana or meditation practice and want to delve deeper into yoga. Complete pranayama beginners are welcome, as are those practitioners who have done pranayama but don’t have a regular practice.

By committing to six weeks you can really build on what you learn each session, developing the tools and techniques required to help you set, refine and sustain an individual pranayama practice.

We recommend that you attend all classes in the course.

Cost £70

Spaces are limited.
